A telegram was received from New Orleans last night announcing the death Monday morning of Bob Meyers well known Guthrie man. Mr. Meyers in company with Mrs. Meyers went to New Orleans for his health about six weeks ago. At that time he was in bad shape and his doctors held out but little hope for his ultimate recovery.
"Bob" Meyers was probably better known in Guthrie and in the state at large than any other peace officer in the state. For many years he has been in the secret service of the Santa Fe railroad and previous to that was city marshal and deputy sheriff of this county. He came to Guthrie in the early days following the opening of Oklahoma and has been identified with the state ever since.
