The autorization was received by U. S. Marshall Nix from Attorney General Olney to bury Pierce in the "Boot Hill" section of Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma. He is buried in pauper's grave No. 65 and was buried on May 5, 1895. Note the mis-spelling of his last name.
